More than 50 associates and guests attended Kansas Wheat Alliance’s VIP Field Day on May 13. K-State and KWA used this day to give attendees insight into the direction wheat research and variety are heading.
Chad Asmus, BASF Technical Service Representative, discussed the topic of “Fungicides Aren’t all the Same” with the group and allowed time for questions.
After lunch, Dr. Romulo Lollato, K-State Wheat Extension Specialist, started the group on the tour and explained “Variety Specific Management Research for Optimum Wheat Performance.” Plot tours were headed by Dr. Allan Fritz and Dr. Guorong Zhang, K-State Wheat Breeders whom presented “Larry, Zenda, Tatanka and What’s in the Wheat Variety Pipeline.” Guests were able to walk through K-State’s experimental field and get a first-hand look at the new wheat varieties.
