Harvest Moon Inc. originated in the early 1990s by Fred and Jeanie Schields along the western plains of Kansas. Fred Schields is a third-generation Kansas farmer, who finds enjoyment in researching new farming procedures, equipment and seed genetics. His wife, Jeanie comes from a lineage of women in agriculture, where she finds fulfillment in the versatility the farm brings her in her everyday life. With the help of their four daughters: Tiffany, Tahnee, Tatum and Tennille, along with Jeff Fisher, Terry Martin, Jared Williams and Martin Church, Harvest Moon is at full capacity during the planting and harvest seasons.
In the early 1990s, Fred Schields and his wife realized the many benefits of growing wheat and selling seed wheat. It was then when they decided to buy into the certified and registered seed industry, and not long after, they fell in love.
Harvest Moon Inc. currently offers three Kansas Wheat Alliance varieties: KS Western Star, KS Hamilton and KS Dallas. Along with simply offering seed wheat, the Schields also offer seed treatment, along with ensuring the seed wheat is clean and conditioned before leaving the farm.
Through the seed sales farm entity, Harvest Moon Inc., they have been committed to working with Kansas State University on the Sherman County wheat plots as well as with some designated corn and sunflower seed companies. Harvest Moon has accepted the challenges of analyzing the different portfolios of seed varieties on the farm and screening those that hold promise. Harvest Moon is proud of our seed sales business and enjoys sharing their plot results. We welcome the opportunity of introducing you to the value of enhancing your bottom line by planting new proven genetics on your own acres.
