Through our seed sales farm entity, Harvest Moon Inc., we have been committed to working with Kansas State University on the Sherman County wheat plots as well as with some designated corn and sunflower seed companies. We have accepted the challenges of analyzing the different portfolio of seed varieties on our own farm and screening those that hold promise. We are proud of our seed sales business and enjoy sharing our plot results. We welcome the opportunity of introducing you to the value of enhancing your bottom line by planting new proven genetics on your own acres.
Located on the western plains of Kansas, Fred and Jeanie Schields’ farm is a family-owned and operated grain farm. The predominant crops grown are wheat, corn, and sunflowers. Most of the Schields’ acres are cultivated dry land, with some irrigated acres. New farming practices such as no-till, minimum-till and prescriptive farming are used to build the soils, preserve the limited rainfall and ultimately enhance production. The Schields grow Kansas Certified Seed Wheat for their local customers.
The Schields’ homestead is a source of family pride. The beautiful home and farmstead were started by Fred’s parents, Fred and Darlene, in the late 1940’s, and continued to grow in size through the decades. It is a place where Fred and Jeanie’s four daughters, their families and friends enjoy “coming home” to the wide open spaces of our <em "mso-bidi-font-style:="">Home on the Range.
