Peirce Farms is currently the oldest seed dealer in Reno County. With that, they were the first farm to sell certified seed in the county. This operation all started when the first generation of Peirce’s started the certified seed business in the mid to late 1940s, but the farm dates back to 1885. Currently, Cameron, the third generation of selling seed, owns and operates the family business. His son, Connor, an agronomy graduate from Kansas State University, also helps on the farm full-time. The Peirce family has on-site scales, seed conditioners and seed cleaning facilities. With the test plots being so close to their base, they rely heavily on the data K-State researchers bring to the table. Located in Hutchinson, Kansas, Peirce Farms is a central location for growers within Kansas and the northern part of Oklahoma.
Peirce Farms is a lifetime supporter of KWA and K-State wheat varieties. They offer 3-4 KWA varieties each year and only sell what they would plant in their fields. The Peirce’s are a 100% no-till operation apart from their Canola crop.
In their family-oriented operation, the Peirce family does not bring in a third party for any part of the business, with the exception of treating the seed. They sell what they raise and do not bring in seed from another dealer. The goal of Peirce Farms is to sell seed that will ensure success for the growers. The family walks the field together to ensure the plants and soil are healthy. Each one of the family members does their part with planting, harvest, preparation and customer service.
Peirce Farms currently offers the following KWA varieties: KS Ahearn, KS Silverado, KS Hatchett and Zenda.
